Dog G disses Jay Chou for not using his "diao"

Here's some Taiwanese celebrity gossip for you guys today...

Taiwanese celebrity television host Patty Hou, who considered as mega-babe status in Taiwan, will be getting married sometime year to a multi-millionaire Citigroup executive, Ken Huang. Patty Hou also publicly declared that she IS virgin and that is saving herself for marriage. Then all a sudden in comes rapper Dog G who released a little freestyle rap dissing Jay Chou, Patty's ex-boyfriend, for not tappin that ass when they were together for about 2 years. Jay is pretty pissed off at Dog G and just said he just name drops and disses celebrities to become famous. But that brings us to this question...

............Do you think Jay got a piece of that Patty cake? LOL.

More pics of Patty Hou:

Dayyyyyyyum...she's gorgeous.

And here's her lucky baller banker fiance, Ken Huang.

Of course when they tie the knot, the paparazzi will be all over them like white on rice, trying to find out whatever scandal they can. Some of the media speculates that Patty Hou is already pregnant and this might be a shotgun wedding. Yup, that's how the Taiwanese media is. They are monsters!!

Oh well. I hope these two will be very happy together!!

Jay Chou lashes out at rapper Dog G for insulting song

Posted: 17 February 2010 1422 hrs

TAIPEI : Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou has lashed out at rapper Dog G for writing a song about ex-girlfriend Patty Hou's virgin bride status that indirectly insulted him.

The Taiwanese rapper, inspired by media reports that the soon-to-be-married television host Hou is a virgin bride, wrote in his song that Chou "writes about being 'diao' [cool, powerful] in his songs, but is all talk and never used it".

The word 'diao' can also refer to the male genitalia in the Taiwanese dialect.

Chou joked that it was up to the Green Hornet - the singer plays Kato in the upcoming Hollywood film of the same name - and Panda Heroic - a panda themed superhero played by Chou's close friend Devon Song - to uphold justice. So he asked Song, popularly known as Dan Tou, to respond on his behalf.

"If Dog G did not rely on scolding other people, he would be an unknown singer," said Song.

"I originally wanted to write a song to stand up for Chou but he [Chou] told me to spend time with my family over the Lunar New Year period and not waste my time," Song added.

Song also said that he was not happy with the way Dog G insulted his close friend and especially disliked the way the rapper showed no respect towards women. He pointed out that Hou was getting married soon and Dog G should not have brought attention to rumours that could smear her name.

Dog G on the other hand claimed he wrote the song because he found the media's obsession with virginity irksome and wanted to "showcase this serious issue with humour".

Dog G, whose real name is Zeng Guanrong and best known for his current affairs-inspired songs, also said that he "did not think scolding other people would make [him] popular" and welcomed Chou to write a song to admonish him, though he said that he would retaliate.

Soft Lipa - 少年維持著煩惱 MV

Soft Lipa - Winter Sweet

少年維持著煩惱 is about story of a troubled and stressed out young boy.

Soft Lipa without doubt, an amazing artist. His rap flow and production is top notch and, most importantly, his songs actually have SUBSTANCE to them. Just from hearing the song Winter Sweet and this song, I'm totally amazed about how much he stepped up his production compared to his last album. I think, without a doubt, Soft Lipa is the #1 rapper in Taiwan right now. Whatever he's doing, I think is incredible for Taiwanese and Mandarin hip hop. I'm definitely picking this album up!

Soft Lipa in the studio working on "Winter Sweet"

Here's a clip of Soft Lipa with saxophonist Dong Shun Wen working on a new project called Winter Sweet. The music they were working on sounds real chill. It almost sounds psychedelic in a way. Winter Sweet is scheduled to be released this coming December.

Homies - Welcome to the Good Life MV feat. Jin, Joe Flizzow & Gabby

Check out this new music video by called Welcome to the Good Life by Taiwanese hip hop group called Homies featuring Jin, Joe Flizzow and Gabby. Welcome to the Good Life was produced by Terry Tye Lee. I gotta say, this is nice slow-tempo song for the clubs. I like music that celebrates the finer side of life. Its refeshing to hear Jin coming out with an English verse although I don't know if he ever did any club songs before. Malaysian rapper Joe Flizzow comes in the smoothest in this one. The two Chinese rappers need to slow down on the beat though. Both of them made a good effort but there's no swagger in their raps. Their rapping sounds a bit too harsh for me to be in club music. Oh and if you guys missed it, there's a Chinese Tupac in the music video. Tupac isn't dead. He's in Taiwan!

MC Hotdog eats up his own words!!

Does anyone remember MC Hotdog's 韩流来袭 (Korean Wave Invasion) song where he was dissing Taiwanese pop singers and their corny love songs? Surprise, surprise. MC Hotdog's in one now. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! MC Hotdog must have fell off his tree and lost his mind. This song is sad sack of shit. I can't even fathom why he even agreed to be featured in this song.

What's the difference between Christine Fan Wei Qi and Yuki Hsu or A-mei or Coco Lee (who he dissing in 韩流来袭)? They all sound the same to me. They just sing love songs and maybe they like to make cute little poses once in a while. Don't tell me that Christine Fan Wei Qi's music is "realer" than Yuki Hsu or A-mei. Aww, give me a break!! Don't tell me that this song 1到10=我和你 (1 to 10=Me And You) has depth to it. It has NONE. There's no feel to it, no soul and no depth it AT ALL. It just sounds like it was meant for little kids or for Sesame Street. Anyways, I'm very disappointed in MC Hotdog for being in this shitty song and contradicting his message of bringing "real music" to Taiwan.

Here's further proof of how dumb this song is. Here's a clip of the singer, Christine Fan Wei Qi wearing a funky skirt and performing 1到10=我和你 for the oompa loompas behind her. LOL at the oopma loompa bouncing up and down in the far right.

My review of Soft Lipa's 收斂水 (Lotion) album

Soft Lipa's 收斂水 (Lotion) LP & 打包 Pack I got in the mail

I've been following Taiwan's Soft Lipa since last year after seeing his catchy music video about smoking weed and getting high called 煙霧瀰漫 (Haziness). It wasn't the subject matter of the song that really drawn me to Soft Lipa (believe me, I had my days...lol), but rather his rapping style which I thought was really dope! Since then I found some other music videos from Soft Lipa that he released over time and I started to like his music more and more. When I read online that he released his album last month, I had to get it. So flash forward to a couple of days ago, I got a parcel in the mail with these two goodies inside: Soft Lipa's 收斂水 (Lotion) LP & 打包 Pack Single, all the way from from Taiwan! Shout outs to Lo-Wei and Soft Lipa from KAO!Inc for hooking a brother up!!

Back to the album. So when I got my hands on the 收斂水 (Lotion) album (no pun intended), it turns out that the album is actually a small hardcover book mainly of various photos of Soft Lipa, lyrics and a CD attached to the back of the book. As for the music, Soft Lipa is known for rapping over jazz hip hop beats. The jazzy hip hop instrumentals combined with Soft Lipa's rapping creates a very chill and laid-back feeling when you listen to it. As far as Soft Lipa's rap style, he's a very fluid rapper and he flows very well in Mandarin Chinese. His rapping style and enunciation is more "soothing" to listen to than MC Hotdog's, who prefers to rap more harshly. My favourite tracks from 收斂水 (Lotion) are: Hit The Rhyme, Bamboo Holla, 關於小熊 (About Little Bear), 遇見 (Meet), 收斂水 (Lotion) and 煙霧瀰漫 (Haziness). I wish I can give a more in-depth review about the lyrical content of the album but my Chinese is not at the level of a native speaker. But to sum up everything, this is a great album to show case how they do hip hop in Taiwan. I highly recommend Soft Lipa's 收斂水 (Lotion) album.

Soft Lipa - 收斂水 (Lotion)

Track Listing:

01.關鍵字 (Intro)
02.Hit the Rhyme
03.Bamboo Holla
04.鄉愁
05.關於小熊
06.給你一個吻 (Skit)
07.遇見
08.Start it Underground
09.金賭爛
10.煙霧瀰漫 (Jazzy Remix)
11.熱水澡
12.收斂水
13.Outro
14.煙霧瀰漫 (Bonus)

Here are some of the "newer" music videos from Soft Lipa's new album.

This is the music video for 關於小熊 (About little bear). It's a song about a green plush bear that witnesses the unfolding of a love story between a boy and a girl.

This is the music video for 遇見 (Meet), which is an introspective song about how and where you meet people even when you are the least conscious about it. The music video features Taiwanese girls looking cute and posing for the camera.

This is a live performance of Soft Lipa's title track 收斂水 (Lotion). The song talks about lotion as a metaphor for chillaxing and unwinding from the busy/noisy life.

MC Hotdog - 我愛 Yes Girl (I Love Yes Girl) feat Ma Nian Xian

MC Hotdog - 我愛 Yes Girl

我愛 Yes Girl (I Love Yes Girl) is MC Hotdog's latest single featuring Ma Nian Xian from the indie rock band Sticky Rice. The song 我愛 Yes Girl is about Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), which is like PMS, only worse. PMDD is PMS symptoms multiplied by 100x.

I personally find this song is very, very strange. The girl in music video is really cute, but I wouldn't like to associate her with crazy hormonal mood swings (although Lord knows they are inevitable sometimes) accompanied by cramping between the legs. This song gets a big fat "WTF?!" from me.

MC Hotdog - 請拍手 (Please Clap)

MC Hotdog - Mr Almost

Here's a music video for MC Hotdog's 請拍手, which means "Please Clap" when translated in English. 請拍手 is an uplifting song for people going through difficult times. The song was produced by Soft Lipa, who is well-known for producing jazzy hip hop instrumentals. 請拍手 is the 3rd single from MC Hotdog's Mr. Almost Album.

MC Hotdog - 韩流来袭 (Korean Wave Invasion)

MC Hotdog

韩流来袭, or the Korean Wave Invasion is the first major single from Taiwanese rapper MC Hotdog. In this song, MC Hotdog ridicules the music from the Taiwanese music industry because of how it glamorizes Korean pop idols and love songs. There's a lot of profanity and vulgar language used in this song especially in the chorus where he specifically calls out Korean pop bands Clon and H.O.T. and female singers Yuki, Ah Mei, and Coco Lee. The instrumental of this song uses a very popularized "chinky theme". I don't know exactly what the name of it is, but I'm sure you all heard it before. The Korean Wave Invasion can be found in MC Hotdog's debut EP album Dog released in 2001.

Soft Lipa - 煙霧瀰漫 (Haziness)

Soft Lipa

Smoking marijuana is not officially a part of hip hop culture but it is something that is often referenced to in many rap songs. Some rappers such as Bone Thugs N Harmony, Cypress Hill and Ludacris have written songs dedicated to marijuana and getting high.

Soft Lipa is an underground rapper in Taiwan. He quite has a big following in the Mandarin-speaking hip hop community in Taiwan and in Mainland China. Here's a song from Soft Lipa called 煙霧瀰漫 (Haziness). Its a song about marijuana and getting high. Soft Lipa can flow very well in Mandarin. Soft Lipa is definitely someone to watch within the emerging Chinese hip hop community. There will be definitely be more posts on him in the future.

Dog G - Taiwan Song

Dog G -Lotus from the Tongue

大支 or "Dog G" is a Taiwanese rapper from Tainan, Taiwan. Dog G raps in the Taiwanese Min Nan dialect, which is the native dialect in Taiwan. Dog G is known to be very outspoken for being pro-Taiwanese.

Dog G's most popular and controversial song is called Taiwan Song. In this song, Dog G raps about being proud of his Taiwanese culture and Taiwanese identity. Because of the cultural assertiveness of Taiwan Song, Dog G gained a lot of media exposure in Taiwan and many Taiwanese fans. This song was even mentioned in a Time Magazine article about Taiwan's political situation called What Taiwan Wants. In the article, some of the lyrics of Taiwan Song were translated as "Those without the fear of losing, they are the true spirit of Taiwan; those who don't agree, get out!". This song is from Dog G's Lotus from the Tongue album released in 2002.

Jay Chou - Huo Yuan Jia

Jay Chou - Huo Yuan Jia

周杰伦 or Jay Chou is one of Taiwan's biggest pop superstars. He performs many different genres music and fuses of music such as rock, R&B, pop and rap and Chinese-esque music known as "Zhong Guo Feng". Jay Chou has released 8 studio albums up to date: Jay(2000), Fantasy (2001), Eight Dimensions (2002), Ye Hui Mei (2003), Common Jasmin Orange (2004), November's Chopin (2005), Still Fantasy (2006), On the Run (2007), and Capricorn (2008).

The song Huo Yuan Jia is about a 19th century martial artist from China that became famous by challenging foreign fighters during the time when China fell to foreign powers. This was the theme song to the movie Fearless starring Jet Li which was loosely based on Huo Yuan Jia's life. The song and instrumental is very China-esque. It features Jay Chou rapping and singing in a falsetto voice. The music video is very well done and you can see some scenes from Fearless and see Jay Chou's unique kung fu dance choreography. The song is from Jay Chou's 2006 EP with the same title, Huo Yuan Jia.
