"Confucius" Trailer (Starring Chow Yun Fat as Confucius)

There's a new Confucius movie starring Chow Yun Fat as Confucius. Chow Yun Fat? The God of Gamblers--that Chow Yun Fat? Bingo. Yep, that one. Let's hope he'll do the role justice. It is said that the movie will have some romance and kung fu in it. As for the romance, I'll let that slide because Confucius' lineage still continues to this day. I'm pretty sure that was a result of Confucius laying his sagely mack down. Otherwise, how do you explain the hundreds of thousands of people with his name? Okay as for the kung fu, WTF. I'm not really sure about that. But then again Confucius was living in pretty corrupt times... I guess he had to defend himself? LOL. But anyways, this movie looks epic and I'm definitely going to watch this one. It is scheduled to be out in early 2010.

Trailer for "Bang Bang" (Movie starring Thai Ngo)

This is a trailer for an upcoming Asian-American gangster film called Bang Bang starring Vietnamese rapper Thai Ngo (playing as "Justin") and David Huynh (playing as "Charlie"), directed by Byron Chan. The movie will be released in the summer of 2010.

Synopsis:

Justin is a troubled teen looking for a way out of the gang life. His best friend Charlie is a rich Taiwanese kid who lives in the nice part of town. Justin runs away from home after a fight with his Mom and takes refuge at Charlie's house while Charlie's parents are away on a prolonged business trip.

The murder of a fellow gang member avalanches into a full blown war with a rival gang. Caught in the midst of teenage angst, gang life, and alienation, the two friends find themselves heading down two different paths of life."

The trailer for Jin's new movie, 死神傻了 (Split Second Murders) is out. From what I gather from the trailer, it looks a thriller-comedy film. 6-Wing from the Hong Kong rap group Fama plays the lead role.

New Big L Documentary: Street Struck

Check out this new documentary trailer of one of the GREATEST rappers of all time Big L, may he rest in peace! Oh wow... and Jin is in the trailer too? I wonder what kind of role will he play in the documentary? The documentary will be called Street Struck: The Big L Story and its scheduled to drop on February 2010, to coincide with the 11th anniversary of Big L's untimely death.

Rite vs. Right (Asian Gangster Movie)

Rite Vs Right is a short film released in 2007 by the Kaleidoscope program about Asian youth and gangs in Vancouver. The production team of Rite Vs Right consisted primarily of the at-risk youth from the Kaleidoscope program. This short film gives the audience a glimpse of what (misguided) Asian youth culture is like in Vancouver. "Don't worry man, this is the best shit in BC!"

Description:

In search of a better life, 16 year old Long left everything behind and crossed the ocean with his Mom. Craving friendship and a sense of belonging, he looks to those who will offer him brotherhood and protection. But at what cost? Long discovers a new life, but is it really better than what he left behind? Filmed entirely on location in Richmond and Vancouver by the participants in the Kaleidoscope program.

Jin will be in another Hong Kong movie that will be released by the end of this year. This time Jin leaked out some pics of himself in character. What I know is that Jin will be playing as the role of "Mr. Chan". His role on this movie is smaller than his first Hong Kong movie. From what I gather, it looks like it will be an 80's-retro-themed movie. My guess its going be a comedy film.

The two guys in the photo above are director "C" and scriptwriter "D" from Jin's very first HK film. That's right! Jin will be in his very first HK film! There's no word from Jin yet on what kind of character he plays in the movie or what is the title of the movie, or even who's co-starring in the movie. The only thing he revealed about the movie is that "It [the movie] should be out before the end of the year…". That's one thing about the Hong Kong entertainment industry. Hong Kong singers don't just stay in the music industry. A large majority of singers/musicians also act in TV dramas series, movies and also commercials to make themselves well-rounded entertainers. That's a part of the Hong Kong entertainment culture. If you guys remember way back, Jin had a small acting role as "Jimmy" the mechanic in the 2003 street racing film 2 Fast 2 Furious. Yellow: American Dream, Chinese Ambition Teaser

Check out this trailer of this upcoming short film called Yellow: American Dream, Chinese Ambition. The film is about Chinese gangsters in New York city's Chinatown. The length of the short film is about 22 minutes. Tony Murphy, the producer and co-writer of Yellow, got in touch with me and told me that he is planning use this upcoming short film as a spring board to develop a one hour dramatic cable series like a Chinese-styled Sopranos set in Chinatown, New York. If all goes well the series will be airing on the like of HBO, Showtime or some other US cable network. His ultimate goal is to tell interesting compelling stories about the Chinese experience in New York while examining how Americans view Asians and how Asians view themselves. I also was very impressed that he had quite an extensive knowledge about the Chinese underground and how they operate. The man did his homework!
